The tour starts with a brief overview of the history of Napier and its Art Deco heritage. Hear the story of Pania, the beautiful maiden of the sea people. Learn how the land was raised up out of the sea during the 1931 Napier earthquake. Enjoy fantastic night time views of Napier from Napier Hill. Visit Centennial Gardens once the site of the quarry used to build Napier Prison. We stop for a classic Kiwi Burger at Burger Fuel Learn of the fate of the three masted sailing schooner Montmorency, its crew and passengers. We visit Port Ahuriri (West Quay) and the learn of its history in the time of Maori settlements and then later European We will have time for a drink at one of the pubs along West Quay before returning back to Napier.
