The Grape Escape is owned and operated by Greg Beachen Aka Merlot Man.

My experience has been gained from many years working in the wine and tourism industry in New Zealand and the UK.

Whilst living in the UK I studied for a degree in Business Management and Tourism at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. It was during this time that I discovered the wonderful world of wine whilst working part time in an Oddbins wine store. Oddbins were renowned for their out there style, fantastic range of wines and knowledgeable staff, so it seemed like a great place to learn and explore the world of wine.

Starting and running this business has been the easiest and one of the most enjoyable things I have done in my life and I credit this to the fact that I found something I was passionate about. Through my passion for my business i believe that I bring great value to my clients/friends and it is my mission to meet and exceed my customers needs and expectations.

Amelda Beachen CFO (Chief Food Officer)

Amelda has a diverse background in tour guiding and hospitality, including certificates in wine appreciation. Originally from South Africa she immigrated to New Zealand in 2002.  Her personable nature along with knowledge of local wine make for a great tour guide.  Amelda loves the company of people and enjoys nothing better than showing of Hawke's Bays wines and indulging in the fine foods served at the restaurants we visit.

Sacha van den Berg CWTO (Chief Wine Tasing Officer)

Sacha has spent the past 14 years working at an array of esteemed wineries, restaurants and cafes. Her roles have ranged from barista, to cellar door and then restaurant manager. A love of wine and food is well matched with a bubbly personality that aims to provide the best experience Hawke's Bay has to offer.  Sacha loves the opportunity to introduce people to new wines and taste experiences, she thrives on the challenge of broading guests palates.
