1: Waiheke Island (Auckland)
VIP Wine Tour
The Langham
(B,D)
We
start the
day New Zealands largest family owned winery, the world famous Villa
Maria. The Auckland winery cellar door is set amongts vineyards located
on a picturesque vineyard park, planted with Chardonnay,
Gewürztraminer and Verdelho vines. We will enjoy a relaxed
tasting of varietals from all over New Zealand. We enjoy a light lunch
before departing to western auckland
boarding
our
ferry to Waiheke Island. First stop Jurrasic Ridge in Oneroa. All wines
are hand crafted by owner Lance Blumhardt. We enjoy a relaxed tasting
with owner Lance Blumhardt followed by a tour around his north facing
vineyard which specialises in Syrah, Montepulciano and Pinot Gris.
Lunch will be at Mudbrick Restaurant. In my humble opinion Mudbrick
Vineyards has one of the most stunning views of any vineyard in the
world. Whilst dining we will enjoy sweeping views over the vineyards
and out to sea with Rangitoto Island in the distance. This afternoon we
pay a visit to Man O` War where an exceptional and passionate team of
people come together to bring you unique world class wines that reflect
the distinctive treasure of land from which they come. Their Flagship
Black Label Range of Gravestone Sauvignon Semillon, Valhalla
Chardonnay, Dreadnought Syrah and Ironclad Bordeaux Blend convey layers
of complexity, structure and ageing potential. Each we have lovingly
named to reflect their history and exceptional sense of place. Last
stop Passage Rock. Passage Rock Wines was established in 1994 by David
and Veronika Evans-Gander. This boutique winery is set apart by its
location and its focus on Syrah. David and Veronika's aim is to work
harmoniously with the seasons the sites and the people involved in
their operation to produce ripe, full bodied red wines made of Cabernet
Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah grapes. During our time on
Waiheke we will also find time to visit some of the craft and art shops
that abound on the island. The evening is yours
Day
2: Downtown Auckland
VIP Foodie Tour
(B,D)
Just on the edge of downtown Auckland is a little slice of France, and
what better way to start the morning than a behind-the-scenes visit to
prepare our own croissants? The perfect cup of coffee awaits us at our
next stop to visit one of New Zealand's premier coffee roasters. No
foodie visit to Auckland would be complete without admiring the fresh
seafood on offer at the Auckland Fish Market. The deli at the Market
gives us the opportunity to check out some other specialty foods. Our
morning foodie exploration will finish with a delicious lunch".
The
rest of
the day will be relaxed with the option of either walking on Rangitoto
Island or taking a ride on an Americas Cup Yacht or perhaps enjoy a
round of Golf at Auckland’s Gulf Harbour.
This
evening dine at Clooney is without doubt one of my favourite
restaurants in New Zealand. The vision of Tony Stewart Maître
d’ has made Clooney one of the most relaxed and ambient
restaurants in New Zealand. Chef Desmond Harris compliments this by
producing meals that satisfy all who eat his cuisine.
